We are creating an “imaginary line,” an immersive and participatory drawing practice that engages artists and community members in an exploration of nature, memory, ritual, and seasonal rhythms. Through large-scale collaborative drawing workshops, we will investigate how collective mark-making can foster deeper connections to urban nature and each other.

During this PlaySpace residency, we are facilitating drawing sessions where participants work together on expansive rolls of paper, responding to prompts that encourage observational and imaginative drawing, mapping, storytelling, and place-based exploration. These sessions will be followed by a research and creation phase, where we will curate, collage, and transform the collection of drawings into new works through bookmaking, video, sound, and installation.

This project is designed to engage a diverse public, including artists, researchers, and local community members, especially members of the Scadding Court Community Center, and others who are interested in collaborative art-making, urban ecology, and experimental drawing practices. Through this residency, we aim to further develop drawing as a communal, performative, and research-based practice, deepening our understanding of how shared creative processes can shape relationships with nature, urban space and memory.
