YOUR PHONE IS A PORTAL. Wander by PS707 and use your cellphone to unlock a rich Augmented Reality experience.

As winter approaches, PS707 switches over to primarily function as a window gallery. Stop by PS707 on your winter walks to see what’s on view behind the glass.

Blending art, animation, and technology, the current window installation at PS707 brings to life excerpts from Cynthia Undyantara‘s upcoming ‘Rainbow Circle’ comic. You simply use your phone’s camera to read the QR code in the window of PS707, follow the link to open the portal, and then continue to use your phone to view the secret layers of storytelling hidden in the artwork.

“The story takes place in the not so distant future,” writes Cynthia:

In a world that’s overrun by tech, and where all the citizens are just a part of the machine. Everyone is ranked by a points system and our protagonist — Rayna, a 13 year old misfit who loves exploring and making music — is not doing so well in this society. One night, her wandering leads her to fall into a portal, and begins her journey through different dimensions. It’s a quest of self-discovery, reconnecting with nature and indigenous wisdom, and stepping into her power in order to awaken the masses.

With Rainbow Circle, first presented by the Lab’s Tom Kuo at MULTIfest, Cynthia invites viewers to explore themes of earth stewardship, power, and awareness through interactive engagement.

The target audience for this story are preteens who are just on the cusp of entering adulthood, though both the story of adventure and self-discovery, and the interactive storytelling format also appeal to a broader audience.

Just in time for the holiday season, prints are available for sale! Priced affordably at $30 each, Cynthia’s prints make great future-forward gifts.
