This UNESCO MONDIACULT 2025 Pre-Conference event will be hosted by ART/IN Forum, a new international research consortium on artistic intelligence (forum.artisticintelligence.com) that includes key partners such as Creative Labour Critical Futures, HUPR, ELIA, Culture Action Europe, Wider Sense, Yellow Mountain Institute, and others.

Participants are invited to discuss together, what artistic intelligence has to offer the world in times of crisis. Artistic Intelligence, in this context, refers to the application of artistic knowledge and artistic methods for public and social good. Artistic intelligence articulates and makes available in appropriate ways, the world’s intangible cultural wisdoms and other knowledges that reside within arts, culture, and heritage.

  1. How can artistic intelligence as a new way of thinking about creative practice across disciplines change how we collaborate, and re-direct system flows?
  2. What are some examples of artistic intelligence being practiced/applied around the world?
  3. How do we extend the imagination and know-how among leaders, funders, innovators/problem-solvers, and policymakers to understand how to support and mobilize artistic intelligence for public good?
  4. What are the ways in which artistic intelligence protects the sacred, the social, and the intrinsic value of arts, culture and heritage? What does it mean to make cultural knowledge available “in appropriate ways?”

ART/IN Forum proposes that just as artificial intelligence synthesizes knowledge for human use that would otherwise lie latent across computers and data centres, artistic intelligence synthesizes other ways of knowing (aesthetic, embodied, cultural, intangible, inherited) that might otherwise be forgotten or discarded.

This is an open workshop for all who may be interested in the topic. Hosted by ART/IN Forum, the workshop will feature a number of founding members. Read more about ART/IN Forum here.

MONDIACULT is the world’s biggest cultural policy conference. The 2025 edition brings together thousands of participants to set the global agenda for culture in the years ahead. The inclusive discussions will revolve around 6 themes and 2 focus areas, representing key challenges and opportunities for the future of culture.

MONDIACULT is also a major advocacy platform. With the conclusion of the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda in sight, the 2025 UNESCO Conference is a decisive moment to build a consensus and momentum to establish culture as a ‘stand-alone’ goal within the next United Nations development strategy.

Cultural rights must be guaranteed for all – and upheld by all. This is why UNESCO will ensure the presence of a wide array of participants, from policymakers, the civil society, artists to young people at MONDIACULT 2025, which you can read more about here.
