Ange Loft
Artist-Researcher
Ange (Kanien’kehá:ka, from Kahnawà:ke) is an interdisciplinary performing artist. Her works blend arts-based research, voice, wearable sculpture, and Haudenosaunee history, guided by her background in community theatre, community art and Indigenous theatrical creation methodologies. In recognition of her craft, Ange received the Toronto Arts Foundation’s Indigenous Artist Award in 2023.
Working with the Lab, Ange created the Cycles Planning Method, which anchors institutional planning in cycles and seasons. This land-based, arts-based developmental process helps organizations reflect on how, where, and when to situate their work by walking through the Kanien’kehá:ka Cycle of Ceremonies, and investigating the rhythms, rituals, and energies of the work and community.
