Decolonizing Research Data Management (RDM) is a professional development program to help research teams, individual researchers and artists proactively approach, review and improve their data and research practices. You can sign up to audit the course on your own, or you can opt for feedback and hands-on assistance.

This is the more ‘serious’ and practical companion to Dada Data which takes a more irreverent and conceptual stance to pushing back on the data colonization of humanity.

With Decolonizing RDM, the learning process includes:

  • Understanding what it means to decolonize research practices across the data lifecycle, and why this is important for you and your research outcomes & impact;
  • Conducting a self-audit using our guided tool to examine the colonial tensions that show up in your work, in your field or knowledge domain;
  • Observing when knowledge feels paralyzing, and how to shift productively away from feeling fearful of ‘getting it wrong,’ or not being able to do enough;
  • Learning about different models and practices that you can draw on as guides to blueprint your RDM practices;
  • Identifying your ‘true stretch’ at this time, for your current project;
  • Develop an iterative roadmap for your evolving RDM practices going forward.

Upon course completion, you will receive a certificate of competency.

Optional: Personalized feedback and written recommendations for your project.
